25th February 2025: 25,000+ employees. 400+ companies. One goal - Win the “Healthiest Place to Work” title.
But this story didn’t start on that sunny February morning. Let’s hit rewind and take you back five months to where the real journey began.
It started with a simple, but a powerful question
At Pazcare, we’ve always prided ourselves on simplifying employee benefits—creating a platform that made insurance easy, claims seamless, and wellness accessible. Our app was already packed with features like wellness initiatives, health checkups, super top-ups, and bi-weekly webinars.
Yet, something still felt... incomplete.
We found ourselves asking, “What if we could do more? What if we could move beyond reactive healthcare and create a culture of proactive wellness?”
We didn’t just want to manage claims; we wanted to inspire a movement where employees took charge of their health in a fun, engaging way.
And with that, Stepathon was born.
A big idea that started with small steps
Did you know? According to Harvard Medical School, walking reduces heart disease risk by 30%.
That got us thinking: If we’re already taking steps for chai breaks and office strolls, why not turn those into healthy competition?
The vision for Stepathon was clear:
- A platform that allows HR teams to launch engaging, step-tracking competitions for employees.
- An app feature where employees can compete with their colleagues, track their daily steps, and take meaningful strides toward better health.
It wasn’t just about fitness; it was about building an ecosystem where movement became the motivation, and health became a habit.
The pilot that got everyone moving
Fast forward to February 2025—we rolled out the first-ever Stepathon as a national corporate challenge. Here’s how it worked:
- Enabling the Competition: HR teams could set up the step tracker for their workforce with just a few clicks.
- Tracking Steps Made Easy: Employees log their daily steps via the Pazcare app, which is integrated with smartwatches, fitness bands, or even smartphone step trackers.
- Real-Time Leaderboards: We introduced not one but three leaderboards:
- Individual Leaderboard: Top-performing employees.
- Company Leaderboard: The healthiest workplaces.
- Internal Leaderboard: Friendly competition within each company.
Facing the hurdles one step at a time
Like any big idea, Stepathon wasn’t without its challenges. Technical snags and app permissions slowed us down. But every hurdle made the product stronger, more intuitive, and ready to deliver a flawless experience.
When Stepathon officially launched on February 25, the response was overwhelming. Over the next 10 days, the results spoke for themselves:
Stepathon 2025 highlights
- 100 Million Steps Taken: Together, participants walked the equivalent of circling the Earth three times.
- Calories Burned: Over 10,000 chocolate bars’ worth!
- A Healthier Workforce: Thousands of employees took their first step toward wellness.
We love it when our clients love what we do.
The Stepathon Challenge was a fantastic initiative that motivated me to stay active and walk more daily. It was engaging, well-structured, and fostered a sense of community and healthy competition. Features like real-time tracking and leaderboard updates made it both fun and rewarding. This program has positively impacted my fitness journey, and I look forward to more such initiatives in the future. Thank you for making walking enjoyable and goal-oriented!

What’s next?
This pilot proved one thing—#EmployeeHealthMatters. Small, engaging initiatives can have a big impact.
As we look ahead, we’re building a self-serve platform that puts the power in HR teams’ hands:
- Launch company-wide challenges in just a few clicks.
- Create team-based competitions (Product vs. Sales vs. Marketing, anyone?).
- Add gamified elements like badges, streaks, and tiers to drive participation.
At Pazcare, we believe workplace wellness should be engaging, inclusive, and most importantly—fun. And with Stepathon, the journey is just beginning.
Stay tuned for updates. Who knows? The next step-tracking challenge could be coming to your workplace soon.
